Francine Bartlett, PT, DPT, ATC, RYT

 
I am the Founder, Owner, and Director of Medicine Wheel Wellness and co-own Excel Physical Therapy, the initial therapeutic service that set the foundation for Medicine Wheel Wellness. My practice as a Physical Therapist, Athletic Trainer, and Yoga Instructor coupled with a passion for travel led into deeper studies in the healing methods of global and local cultures. I believe to achieve optimal health and wellness it requires a holistic approach with a balance of the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of life.
I enjoy working with all ages and injuries/conditions, but with a 25 year history in orthopedic sports medicine, I specialize in athletic injury recovery, particularly knee rehab. I am the Medical Education Director of Opedix Kinetic Health Gear hold certifications  in Z-Health, SportsMetrics, KinesioTaping, Reflexology, Yoga, Dry Needling, Reiki, Thai Massage, and Kettlebell Training.

Francine Bartlett, PT, DPT, ATC, RYT instructs the following:
  • Upper Body Conditioning, Level 1-2
  • This class will emphasize rotator cuff and scapular stabilization exercises which can decrease symptoms associated with impingement, instability, biceps tendonitis, as well as postural imbalances. Our Upper Body Conditioning classes are ideal for those recovering from a shoulder, spine or other upper body injuries or for those looking to prevent injury and improve posture, function and stability.

  • Restorative Yoga-Touch, All Levels
  • Restorative Yoga-Touch incorporates holding longer passive yoga poses on the floor supported by props such as bolsters, blankets, and blocks to stretch, reduce physical tension and mental stress while restoring breath and clarity of intentions. Therapeutic-grade essential oils are diffused into the air and applied topically to ease emotions and promote a healthy body while crystal sound bowls play to  create an energetic flow in the room for further release.   • Strength & Plyometrics, Level 2-3
  • This class is the higher level strength/plyometrics portion of our progressive “Mountain Tribe” Holistic Winter Sports Performance Program Oct 2-Nov 30th with drop-in option available at anytime. Emphasis in on strength, sports performance, speed, power, agility, and plyometrics based on SportsMetrics, an evidence-based ACL/knee injury prevention program.


    Schedule: This class is offered every Thursday 6:45-8pm and 6:30-7:30am in the Fitness Studio at Medicine Wheel Wellness & Excel Physical Therapy Gym 

    Mountain Tribe members have option of AM OR PM class.

    Drop-in: $18 each class, MWW member punch cards accepted on first come, first served basis

    Registration is REQUIRED to guarantee your space in classes/workshops.

  • TRX Essentials, Level 2-3
  • TRX Essentials for total body conditioning. Build full body strength, mobility, cardio and endurance in a conditioning format workout that incorporates the TRX suspension training system. Suspension training is excellent for assisting in challenging movements, and the difficulty is controlled by each individual. (Video Below)

  • BackBody Yoga, All Levels
  • For those with chronic low back pain, several studies suggest yoga as an effective treatment among other benefits such as improved mood, stress reduction, and lower healthcare costs. With low back pain as the most common cause of pain in the United States and back injury as the leading and most expensive cause of workers’ compensation claims (Boston Medical Center) it’s no wonder yoga has become a saving grace for some as a cost effective alternative to other treatment.
     
    Join us for this educational and movement based class to increase awareness and attention to your "Back Body".  Release stress, compression, and tension, improve mobility, stability, coordination, balance, and strength to decrease pain, prevent injury, and enhance sports performance for better function and a more fulfilling life.

  • Lower Body Conditioning, Level 1-2
  • Lower Body Conditioning is ideal for those recovering from a knee injury or looking to prevent injury and enhance performance by improving form, function, balance, strength, and stability. Learn exercises to strengthen, stabilize, and mobilize your lower body to improve your knee health and get in shape for that next adventure.

    A Holistic Winter Sports Performance Program
     
    Dates: October 2nd - November 30th
    Days: Every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
    Time: 6:45-8pm, with option of Tuesday/Thurs Durability and Strength Classes also offered 6:30-7:30am 
     
    Overview: This 9-week holistic training program is in preparation to achieve optimal performance during winter sports including skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling, ice climbing, hockey, skate skiing, snowshoeing, and even running!
    Although physical training will be the grunt of this program, a balance of the physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional aspects of life along with a connection to nature, creates the most efficient way to achieve optimal sports performance, prevent injury, and reach new heights in your health and well-being.
    Four evenings/week with optional AM classes, Health (physical, mental) and Wellness (spiritual, emotional) classes are offered by an experienced, integrated team of professionals with extensive experience in injury prevention, sports conditioning, and performance. By participating consistently in this holistic sports performance program you can expect improvements in: Physical: Strength, endurance, balance, flexibility, efficiency, power
    Mental: Intention, goal setting, clarity, reaction, decision making
    Spiritual: Removing blockages, shifting patterns, connecting with nature, intuition, awareness
    Emotional: Combating stress, burn-out, gaining ease with performance, time-management

  • This class initiates our progressive “Mountain Tribe” Winter Sports Performance Program, Oct 2-Nov 30th but is also a drop-in option at anytime.

    Achieve optimal sports performance, prevent injury, and reach new heights in your health and well-being. Our Durability & Conditioning Class emphasizes Intentional Movement, Active Recovery, Alignment, Technique, Cardiovascular Health, balance, flexibility, efficiency.

    Schedule: This class is offered Monday evenings 6:45-8pm in the Fitness Studio at Medicine Wheel Wellness & Excel Physical Therapy Gym and Tuesdays 6:30am (program option includes choice on 1 class time either Monday eve or Tues AM)

  • Breath & Flow Yoga, All Levels
  • This gentle yoga practice helps you connect breath to movement to gain greater clarity for the mind.  New breathing techniques are introduced each class to aid with a variety of life's stressors.  In other words, join Rebecca for a a feel good, all body yoga class to let go of the outside world and tune inward all through learning to use the breath! (Class Video Below)

  • Aerial Restorative Yoga
  • Join us for this lunch time decompression yoga class as a nice end to the weekday. The class will primarily focus on gentle, relaxing, restorative poses to benefit both the body and mind.  Poses will be performed on the ground as well as in the aerial yoga hammocks.  Class will end in some fun variations of Savasana such as cocoon in the aerial yoga hammocks!
     
    Details: 
    • Aerial Hammocks will be set about 10 inches off the ground for more restorative poses vs. full inversions done in more acrobatic classes.
    • Please observe this class is not for people with:
    • Vertigo • Inner Ear Conditions • Recent Surgery (eye or body within last 6 months) • Glaucoma • Recent Concussion or Head Injury • Epilepsy • Recent Stroke (within last 6 months) • Botox (within 24 hours) • Pregnant • Propensity for Fainting • Hiatal Hernia • Sutures in any part of the body • Artificial or re-surfaced hips • Recent gashes, lacerations, or wounds • If you are taking any medications that can cause dizziness, light headedness, propensity for fainting, or extreme fatigue
